MISSION

Be surprised, Interact, Improvise: The Surprise Art Technique

for my personal Art, I developed The Surprise Art Technique based on the Wet-on-Wet watercolor technique, but using acrylic and Flow enhancer on big size non prepared canvas.

I appreciated the dialogue with the material and the impossibility of full control over it and I began enjoying the  interaction with surprises and accidents.

And I started using a similar more simplified approach with my students of all ages and the results were incredibly liberating and satisfying, so I developed it as a workshop.

Philosophy behind it and Mission Statement:

Since the Renaissance the general belief is that only a few geniuses are entitled to make Art and to receive the passive admiration of the public.

But in Prehistoric times Art had a function, forgotten now: to intervene in the physical world, to magically transform everyday life.

And because in 21st century almost everyone has the means to do art and art has no limitations of forms, techniques, media and esthetics, I recently found what can be my role as an artist trained at renowned academies of Art:

  1. To guide those who are willing, in discovering their potential of genuine artistic genius, with a technique that takes them by surprise.
  2. My second goal is to make people who are willing, to interact through the Surprise Art technique with other people and in doing so to discover that other people can be genuinely geniuses as well, each in their own unique way.

As a result, those who have dared to experience both practices become eager for more interaction and by this, start to enjoy and appreciate improvisation.

  1. And training people to enjoy Improvisation in society and nurture improvisation and dialogue is my third goal, because it may take social interaction to a different energy level: of trust, growth, happiness and enjoyment.

It sounds too simple to be true, but because it is simple it is worth trying.

And these 3 goals have become my Mission Statement as an artist and social activist.
